The Listen Network utilizes contextual podcast advertising by placing podcast episode ads on the web, apps, social and video based on the intent of your podcast’s audience. This helps to increase episode consumption and listener growth.

This page explains the common terms associated with Listen Network Podcast Promotion.

  • Podcast Download: IAB (Interactive Advertising Bureau) minimum 60-second buffer of a podcast episode. This could be initiated by playing the episode or an automatic episode buffer on the user’s device.

  • YouTube Podcast View: IAB (Interactive Advertising Bureau) 30-second view on an Outstream (In-feed) video.

  • Podcast Follower: Listeners on Spotify, YouTube or Apple who consent to have a podcast added to their library or are notified when a new episode is released.

  • Cost Per Download/view: The amount for every IAB Verified 60-second download/view acquired.

  • Download Conversion Rate: The percentage of the episode downloads action after clicking on an ad online.

  • Cost per follower: The amount for every podcast follower acquired.

  • Follower Conversion Rate: The percentage of podcast listeners that convert to followers/subscribers after seeing an ad.

  • CTA Clicks: how many times listeners clicked the second level Call-to-Action on the ad or podcast landing page.

  • CPM: The amount we pay for every one thousand impressions of a podcast promotion campaign.

  • Ad Spend: How much spent directly on podcast promotion campaigns.

  • Podcast Listener: a user who has downloaded an episode. This user can also listen to multiple episodes (Common with hosting platforms).

  • Impressions: Number of times the podcast ad is shown to a user.

  • Ad Clicks: Number of clicks on the podcast ad creative.

  • Cost Per Ad Click: The amount we pay every time an ad for a podcast episode is clicked.

  • Ads Click-through Rate: The percentage of clicks on an ad creative after an Ad impression(s).

  • Business-Class Reporting: All-encompassing reporting after the completion of a podcast promotion campaign showing measurements and metrics for optimization.

  • Podcast Growth Suite Ad Channels: A group of podcast promotion tools created to grow podcast episode downloads.

  • Podcast Listener Suite Ad Channels: A group of podcast promotion tools specifically created to grow podcast subscribers and followers.

  • Podcast Adtech: Proprietary technology developed to measure podcast growth and listener promotion attribution.

  • Host-Read Podcast Advertising: in-stream audio ads that run inside another podcast episode, often read by the host. Advertisers don’t need to have a podcast to run this.

  • Contextual Targeting: Advertising technique that displays ads based on the content of a webpage, app or social media feed.

  • Download Attribution: Process of identifying the traffic source of a podcast episode download.

  • Companies Listening: companies that users who listen to a podcast are affiliated with.

  • Episode Plays: Podcast promotion objective optimized for Click-to-play action on a podcast episode player.

  • 30-second Listens: Podcast promotion objective optimized for at least a thirty-second consumption of a podcast episode.

  • 60-second Listens: Podcast promotion objective optimized for at least a one-minute consumption of a podcast episode.

  • Out-Stream Podcast Promotion: podcast promotion based on ad creatives with in-built players that appear on web, mobile web, mobile apps, social, and video channels. These ads play on a content feed and not inside another media.

  • In-Stream Podcast Promotion: podcast ads that play inside a video and audio podcast episode. Examples include host-read ads, skippable instream videos etc.
